We want to create a safe and welcoming environment where everyone is respected and valued. All delegates and exhibitors are expected to read and follow this Safe Space Policy when they attend ICTMC 2024.

Creating a safe space is a collective responsibility and should enable all participants to enjoy, participate in and contribute to the event; recognising that a conference can be a busy time, we will provide access to a quiet space/rest room allocated within the venue. Everyone is responsible for ensuring their own behaviour contributes to a welcoming event; this includes session Chairs, speakers, delegates, exhibitors and conference staff.

The TMRP, organisers of ICTMC 2024, is committed to providing a professional, friendly, and safe environment for all participants regardless of gender, sexual orientation, disability, race, ethnicity, religion, national origin, or other protected class. We strongly believe that everyone, regardless of their age, background, ability, culture, disability, gender, language, religious beliefs or sexual identity has the right to protection from abuse.

The event organisers are dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for all participants. We do not accept harassment or intimidation of participants in any form whether verbal, physical, or written. Unacceptable behaviours may include but are not exclusive to: intimidation including, but not limited to making threats, bullying, personal attacks; harassment; abuse; discrimination; any speech or actions deemed demeaning or derogatory to participants; inappropriate use of images; real or implied threat of professional or financial harm; disruption to the event, including but not limited to sustained interruption of speakers or those asking questions; unwanted photography or filming; and unauthorised sharing of promotional/advertisement materials.

Delegates are advised that they are allowed to take photographs of any posters or presentations unless the authors/presenters have made it clear that they do not consent. Delegates are advised that such photos could be part of a tweet, thus they should make it clear if they do not wish this to happen. Delegates should also obtain consent from an author before citing any of their work that was presented at the conference.

You may contact any of the Committee Chairs (Paula Williamson, Katie Gillies, Eleanor Mitchell) and In Conference staff to report an issue. Event participants who do not adhere to this code of conduct will be asked to stop and expected to comply immediately. We reserve the right to act if this code is breached. This may result in immediate removal from the event, without refund.

At registration we ask all delegates to inform us of any accessibility requirements they may have; this includes, but is not limited to hearing impairment, reduced mobility, visual impairment and requirement for wheelchair access. We will then follow up with them and have a conversation about their access needs.

This policy has been based on those developed by the Academy of Medical Sciences and the European Respiratory Society. We welcome feedback on how we might improve this policy and make future events, meetings and activities a safer space.
